Every year the DAAD Alumni Association USA supports a number of events and initiatives to support transatlantic exchange. The annual Sound Understanding Concert is one of our most high-profile efforts, but it is by no means the only one. Through newsletters, member meetings, and joint events with other German alumni organizations, the Alumni Association seeks to further strengthen the relationship between the US and Germany.

If you are donating on the occasion of the Sound Understanding concert, donations of $100 or more will be acknowledged in the concert program if received before the press deadline in early March.

Our Scholarship fund is named after Dr. Hubertus Scheibe (Secretary General of DAAD from 1955 to 1979) who - together with leading figures from the sciences, the industry and diplomacy - launched the “Vereinigung der Freunde und Förderer des DAAD e.V.” (Association of Friends and Sponsors of the DAAD) on October 24, 1981.

Today, the DAAD Alumni Association USA recognizes the ongoing need for a transatlantic and trans-disciplinary exchange – following Dr. Scheibe’s vision of individual exchange as a basis for understanding and a more peaceful world.

The Hubertus Scheibe Fund supports initiatives and research fostering the collaboration between the sciences, the arts, industries and foreign policies.

Any donation to this fund goes 100% towards our RISE, Language, and ARTS scholarships. You can choose to add ‘Hubertus Scheibe’, ‘RISE’, or ‘ARTS’ to the line for special instructions. We are a USA 501 (c 4) not-for-profit organization and your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

We are proud to have earned a Gold Seal from Candid/Guidestar for our financial transparency and trustworthiness!
